Joseph Pilates, the founder of the pilates method was born in Germany in 1880. He emigrated to the USA in 1926 and he opened the first pilates studio in NYC.

Pilates Method is a series of nonimpact exercise to develop strength, flexibility, balance and inner awareness. Pilates exercises focus on precision, control and quality of movement.

The exercises can be done by anyone at any level of fitness, and the exercises can also be adopted for people who have limited movement. Pilates is also helpful in prevention and rehabilitating from injuries, increasing flexibility, circulation, and balance. It can even help alleviate back pain and other chronic aliments.
