Yoga

It is an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind and spirit.

The practice of yoga makes the body strong and flexible, it also improves the functions of the circulatory-, respiratory-, digestive- and hormonal systems. Yoga brings about emotional stability and clarity of mind.

Yoga is a perfect way to ensure overall health and physical fitness. The amazing thing about yoga is that its positive effects on the health and mind are visible over time.

There are 6 major branches of Yoga:

  • Hatha yoga
  • Raja yoga
  • Karma yoga
  • Bhakti yoga
  • Jnana yoga
  • Tantra yoga

Hatha yoga is the most popular, the best known form of yoga in Europe because it is often taught as a form of physical therapy.

Yoga has been recommended as an adjunct to psychotherapy and standard medical treatments for a number of reasons. The stretching, bending and balancing involved in the asanas help to align the head and spinal column, and keep muscles and joints strong and flexible. Yoga programs have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering blood pressure and anxiety level.

Sulypont Pain and Rehabilitation Clinic has small classes (3-4 people) guided by a physical therapyst with several years of experience in teaching yoga.
